MINNESOTA VACATION - ON THE ROAD

We started road tripping 4 years ago when we visited Las Vegas.  We missed a trip last year due to our friends coming to Texas for a visit.

We had a terrific time visiting our friends in Minnesota.  Elijah is Grace's heart buddy.  Dan and Megan graciously opened their house to us.  Sammy is Elijah's little brother with the cutest deep voice!!

Before we even got out of the door, we had an accident!  The kids were playing in Bennett's room while I was loading the car.  The next thing I know, Grace comes running outside with humongous eyes.  Then comes Bennett saying that Maggie fell.  And then comes Maggie.  Holy cow!!  She fell off Bennett's bed and hit his window sill.  Now that is a knot!!

Our first stop was Eskimo Joe's in Stillwater, OK.  We had dinner and a great visit with some friends that we don't get to see very often.

After dinner, we drove a few more house and stopped in Kansas.  We got up early the next morning and hit the road again.  We stopped just over the Iowa border to gas up and stretch our legs.  The kids thought these cows were so cool!

A guy Craig works with was raised on a farm in Iowa.  He told Craig that we should stop by his parents farm on our way.  I don't think he knew that we would take him up on it! :)  This was one of our favorite parts of the trip.  Mr. Harry and Mrs. Ann were so nice!!  The kids had a fabulous time and we literally had to drag Bennett back to the car.  First up was the bag swing.  This was rigged on a tree branch.  You jumped off the platform and onto the swing.  It was lots of fun!

Next, it was time to ride the "putzie tractor."  This was a cool little tractor.  I am so sad that I didn't get a better picture!!  Mr. Harry built this tractor out of car parts.  The kids loved driving it!!

Mr. Harry had a couple of neat tractors.  He really enjoyed giving the kids rides and explaining his tractors to Craig.  He was such a handy man.  He built the neatest little airplane that was sitting on top of his barn. (Rats...I didn't get a picture!)  He also put power steering on his tractors.

After exploring the farm, Mrs. Ann treated everyone to cookies and juice.

Before we left, Mrs. Ann insisted that the kids visit the "tree drawer."  This was a drawer full of small toys.  The kids got to pick a toy to take with them.  They were sooo excited!!  Thank you Mr. Harry and Mrs. Ann for a wonderful time at your farm!!

When we left the farm, we were about 2 hours away from Megan's house....or so we thought. After we entered Minnesota, we encountered a major traffic delay.  Interstate 35 was completely shut down due to construction.  At that point, we were totally delirious from being in the car for such a long time.  We were so happy to pull into Megan's driveway with hot pizza waiting for us!!
